The 'Burg

On a (semi) whim, my sister, dad and I decided to load up kiddos and road trip it to Illinois to go visit my dad's side of the family.  Now to some, this might sound crazy, but growing up, we made this 11 hour haul at least once a year.  We left Monday evening, drove all night, and arrived early Tuesday morning at the Beverly Hilton (aka, my Aunt Bev's house).  Pulling an all-nighter was definitely daunting, but believe me - it was the lesser of two evils when traveling with four young kids!

Tuesday was spent hanging out and catching up with the family.  We got to meet Mr. Breckin- my cousin Carey's baby- and the newest addition to the "Reed" clan.  Later that evening we headed over to my grandpa's house for some much needed country fun - climbing trees and riding on the lawn mower.  Brayden was in HEAVEN when he saw the bright green John Deere pull out of the shed, and could have ridden miles around that yard.

On Wednesday, my cousin Whitney drove in town with her two little girls. Again, it was the first time for us to meet Jorja, her 5 month old daughter.  It was really cute to watch Brylee with a baby so close to her age. All in all there were eight kids together that day and they all had a blast playing together.
Thursday night we drove to Evansville to go visit my cousin Christin and her daughter Isabella.  We all ate at Mr.Gatti's and then the kids played games before we made the hour and a half trip back to Harrisburg.

Before we left, there was only one more thing to do...pick corn on Aunt Ruth's farm!  Bailey thought it was super cool, yet not cool enough to actually eat it.  Friday evening we hit the road again and pulled into my parents house early Saturday morning. The trip pretty much wrapped up the summer and it was great to see everyone before school starts.
